Annual Conference

As we look forward to the 2024 Holston Annual Conference, we are continuing with our Together theme. This year we are going to focus on Serving Together. 2024 is our bicentennial year, and as we celebrate the past 200 years, we will be looking back at some of the ways Holston has served its communities. We will also be highlighting our present ministries and planning ways to serve into the future.

Members of the Annual Conference will be gathering at Lake Junaluska June 9-12, 2024, and others may join via livestream that will be posted below.

Serve Together Logo

The Annual Conference Design Team decided to have a logo design contest for our Serve Together Theme. We want to say congratulations to Rev. Timothy Hale for submitting the design concept above. Throughout the year you will notice the background photo changing to highlight our churches in action. If you have photos of mission or service projects, send them to Holston Communications along with the name of your church, the mission/service project, and the person who took the photo and you could see your photo highlighted throughout the Annual Conference year.

Childcare

Camp in the Community is excited to offer a comprehensive childcare solution for families, providing a variety of options tailored to meet the needs of children from 5 to 14 years old, at no cost to parents for childcare or meals. Lunch and snacks will be provided on Monday and Tuesday. Parents can easily register their children through a dedicated online platform, accessible via Camp in the Community's registration link.

For preschool-aged children, ages 2 ½ to 6 years, Shining Rock Junior Academy offers a vibrant program. Located conveniently across from Lake Junaluska on Dellwood Road, Shining Rock Junior Academy presents an enriching environment for young learners. Parents interested in enrolling their children are encouraged to download and complete the provided application form. Once filled out, the application can be scanned and emailed back to the academy at office@srjunioracademy.com or mailed to 1023 Dellwood Rd, Waynesville, NC 28786. To get acquainted with the academy and its offerings, parents are invited to visit Shining Rock Junior Academy's Facebook page. The academy has made available two crucial forms for this process: the Parent Information Packet and the Registration Packet, aimed at streamlining the enrollment process for interested families.

Shining Rock Junior Academy is committed to accommodating the childcare needs of families with preschool-aged children, offering a three-day program at a cost of $105. This fee covers childcare from 8:15 AM to 5:30 PM, including snacks, though meals are not provided. The academy adheres to strict drop-off and pick-up guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of all children. To support families, a stipend reimbursement option is available after the 2024 Holston Annual Conference, based on receipt and attendance verification, with a total of $135 reflecting the same rate as an At-Large Member to Annual Conference receives. The deadline to register for childcare at Shining Rock is May 15, 2024.

For the youngest age group, 6 months to 2 years, we are unable to offer childcare this year. However, in order to ensure all families have access to childcare, a stipend, up to $135 as described above, will be available to help offset childcare fees.

It is important to clarify the stipend policy, especially for families that may opt for private childcare arrangements. The stipend is intended to cover childcare costs in situations where Camp in the Community's services do not cater to the child's age group. This approach ensures that families are supported regardless of the childcare option they choose.

Lastly, it's emphasized that all registrations for Camp in the Community and Shining Rock Junior Academy should be handled directly through these organizations. The staff of the Holston Annual Conference or any design team member will not be involved in the registration process, ensuring a straightforward and efficient enrollment for all families seeking childcare solutions.
